From Day One (when we first met), there was something different about how Ben and I interacted with each other. We couldn’t stop talking. We couldn’t get enough of each other. And, we didn’t even get to go on our first date until almost a month after we met!
I had been working an overnight shift at a local hotel and Ben was down in Calgary. We didn’t get to see each other every day, but we talked all the time. I spent all my time off at his dorm in Calgary, getting to meet all his friends, and just making sure I spent so much time with him!
Then we moved in together.
It was about 9 or 10 months after we started dating. Not super soon, but when you’re 20… it was pretty soon. We just wanted to be together ALL the time and it was easier than having a long distance relationship, or him moving back with his parents after school.
A few months later we got a(nother) dog together. Which our lives pretty much revolved around.
After that, we spent some time meeting each others extended families.
We were talking about getting married, how many kids we wanted to have, where we wanted to travel eventually.
We spent a lot of time going to music festivals, concerts, camping trips, tubing, hiking and geocaching.
One thing we really learned about being in a relationship and sharing your life with someone is how far communication and proper love can go.
