Meeting new families and being a part of so many special days with new people is such a wonderful part of being a photographer. But one thing I love more than meeting new people, is reconnecting with people I’ve been acquainted with for years and being able to photograph them!
Katelyn is an old co-worker of mine, and we came up with a plan to photograph her maternity session one day before a doctors appointment. I was crossing my fingers hoping she wouldn’t go into labour before our session. You’ll see below that she did not in fact go into labour! (I will actually have a post coming soon with her sweet babies newborn photos that I got to do!)
I showed up at her house right before sunset with a giant skirt and a handful of tops READY to go! After a quick change, we drove down to a location right near a creek in Fort Saskatchewan. Then MAGIC happened.
We got to chatting about baby names and if they had picked one out for their baby girl. She began to tell me that they’d chosen the name Peyton Brooke. I asked if there was any significant meaning behind the name, and she told me it was inspired by One Tree Hill. An old TV show that we both love! I was obsessed. It also made me laugh, because that was where I got my son’s name from – Julian – as well!
